After more than a week of silence, Chris Brown Releases a statement on the alleged assault of girlfriend Rihanna.
R&B Singer Chris Brown, 19, has been heavily in the news lately because of his alleged attack on girlfriend and fellow R&B singer Rihanna, 20. The two singers remained mum on the incident for well over a week until Brown released a statement via a spokesperson. Brown Breaks His Silence“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person.” "Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong,” he continues. "While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds," the statement concludes. The posting Brown is referring to is a short statement via his private Facebook page over the weekend. Brown supposedly wrote “you’ll begin to see her true colors. Believe it!” Now, Brown is alleging that this statement was not written by him. The IncidentBrown and Rihanna, who have been dating on and off since 2007, were last seen together at a pre-Grammy party hosted by Clive Davis. A few hours after they left the party, a 911 call was made by a concerned citizen about a couple having an altercation in a car. That couple was allegedly Brown and Rihanna. An arrest warrant was issued for Brown and Rihanna was reportedly taken to the hospital. TMZ.com has reported Rihanna suffered several head contusions, a bloody lip and a bloody nose. Brown, who surrendered to police later that same night, was charged with felony criminal threats and possible assault with a deadly weapon. The couple was supposed to perform together at the Grammy’s the following evening but both pulled out of the event. Rihanna also pulled out of a concert appearance in Malaysia scheduled for February 13th. Rihanna’s Dad RespondsAlthough the singer herself has remained quiet so far, her father has talked to the press about the condition of his daughter. Ronald Fenty, 55, spoke with People magazine regarding his daughter: “There is some bruising,” Fenty says, “she will be alright.” Fenty also adds that at some point she will speak out about what happened to her. “I hope she will stand up for women all over the world,” he adds.
