One of British reality TV's most tempestuous unions, that of Katie Price and Peter Andre, is over after five years.

Katie Price, a former glamour model who worked under the name “Jordan,” and her husband, singer Peter Andre, issued a statement on May 11, 2009, saying they are to separate. Price was quoted in British newspapers the next day, saying she was “devastated” by split, amid rumours this was all a publicity stunt.

Is it really, though? Viewers of the couple’s reality TV shows, which basically followed the couple around, saw they argued constantly. Readers of Price’s three autobiographies will have learned details behind their fights, from Andre disliking his wife going out clubbing and drinking, to what they should name their children. (Price also has a son, Harvey, 6, from a previous relationship).

Possible Reasons Behind Katie Price and Peter Andre's Split

Price also told Piers Morgan, host of the talk show Life Stories, that if she or Andre ever cheated on one another, the relationship would be “done.” “It’s over,” she told Morgan when she was a guest on his show in March 2009 about what would tear her and Andre apart.

On the same program, and in her second autobiography, Jordan: A Whole New World, Price admits she’ll never trust a man 100 per cent, either. She also confessed to being upset over the number of women in Andre’s past, and how he was previously unfaithful to one of them on a couple of occasions.

However, Price wasn’t completely faithful to one of her previous partners, either. Her first autobiography, Being Jordan, recounts how she lied to her live-in boyfriend in order to fly off and spend with race-car driver Ralf Schumacher, with whom she had an ongoing flirtation. Nothing happened with him, but the point is she wanted to be with another man.

Peter Andre Doesn't Like Wife Katie Price Drinking

Andre has also said he doesn’t trust Price when she’s been drinking. “I’m not jealous of anybody until Katie's drunk,” he told the U.K.’s The Sun newspaper. “There's nobody I feel threatened by when she’s sober. But if she’s been drinking, I know she’s capable of anything. The devil gets inside her and she’s a nightmare.”

Price and Andre met in 2004, on the Australian jungle set of the reality TV show I’m A Celebrity …. Get Me Out of Here! They fell for each other instantly, had their first son, Junior, in June 2005, and married in a lavish, Disney-inspired ceremony on Sept. 10, 2005. Daughter Princess, now a year old, followed afterwards.

During their marriage, Price rebranded herself as Katie Price, dropping the “Jordan” image for the most part. She went on to launch a fragrance, write several books, including children’s books and fictional novels among her autobiographies. She’s also designed lingerie and an equestrian line, while Andre worked to relaunch his music career.

Katie Price's Career

It’s all speculation, but perhaps egos played a factor in the demise of their marriage. Price appears to be the more successful of the two, with Andre having hit the peak of his popularity thus far with the release of his single, Mysterious Girl, in 1996. That can’t be easy if a man believes it’s his role to be the bread winner of the family.

Five years after having first met and fallen for each other hard and fast, the relationship between ex-glamour model Katie Price and singer Peter Andre appears to be over. They built a family together, took part in reality TV series and experienced career highs and lows, and despite their split, they will likely always be a part of each other’s lives, as they have young children to parent.
